As educators, we’re constantly looking for ways to make every student feel seen, valued, and empowered—and heritage months give us the perfect opportunity to do just that. April is Arab American Heritage Month, and while I’m not Arab American myself, I deeply believe in representing all people in our classrooms. One simple yet powerful way to do that is through Arab American Heritage Month classroom decor that highlights meaningful stories, role models, and contributions.
Our students come from beautifully diverse backgrounds, and when they see themselves reflected in the curriculum and on the walls of their classrooms, it does more than decorate—it uplifts, educates, and connects. Whether you’re already teaching cultural studies or looking for easy, impactful ways to start, this month is a great time to shine a light on the stories, talents, and legacies of Arab Americans.
Here are a few ways you can bring Arab American Heritage Month to life in your classroom—without overwhelming your already full schedule!
Set the Tone with a Visual Celebration

Let’s be honest: students notice the bulletin board before they notice the worksheet. Use that to your advantage! My Arab American Heritage Month Posters are a print-and-go set that’s perfect for sparking interest and starting conversations. Each poster features a well-known Arab American in fields like politics, science, sports, literature, music, and film.
Tip: Laminate them and reuse them year after year (or even rotate them through different months with other cultural sets!).
Bulletin Board Letters That Do the Talking
If you love a big, bold display that’s also educational, check out the Arab American Heritage Month Bulletin Board Letters. Each letter in “ARAB AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH!” features a different changemaker, complete with a powerful phrase or contribution. It’s a quick way to add instant impact—and every time students walk by, they’re picking up pieces of history.
This one’s especially fun if you like interactive displays: challenge your students to research the individuals featured on the letters and match them to their fields or quotes!

3. Make It Mosaic (and Magical)

For something a little different—and eye-catching—my Arab American Mosaic Tile Posters combine traditional Arab-inspired tile designs with bold portraits, quotes, and achievements. These 12-square posters make an excellent project prompt for biography research or writing activities.
Bonus idea: Have students design their own “mosaic tile” for a person they admire, to reflect on the value of heritage, identity, and voice.
4. Bust Stereotypes with a Myths vs. Facts Display
If you’re looking for a powerful way to promote critical thinking and cultural awareness, the Arab American Heritage Month Myths vs. Facts Poster Set is a classroom must-have. This bulletin board set tackles common misconceptions about Arab Americans—everything from language and religion to immigration, contributions to STEM, and cultural diversity—and presents clear, fact-based responses. Whether you’re a social studies teacher, ELA educator, or working on DEIB initiatives, this set is a visually engaging and meaningful way to challenge stereotypes and spotlight Arab American voices in your classroom.

It’s Not About Checking a Box
Let’s be clear—Arab American Heritage Month isn’t just about meeting a DEI goal or putting up a pretty display. It’s about honoring real people with real stories. It’s about expanding the narrative of what it means to be American. And it’s about showing our students that their culture, their voice, and their identity matter.
Even if you don’t feel like an expert in Arab American history, you can still create space for curiosity, pride, and learning. And that matters so much. Add some Arab American Heritage Month classroom decor to your classroom this month!
